- (b. 1925)Theologian.Segundo is a native of Uruguay. He was educated in Argentina, Louvain and Paris and has taught at Harvard, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Birmingham and São Paulo. A prominent exponent of liberation theology, his works include The Liberation of Theology and the fivevolume Jesus of Nazareth, Yesterday and Today. In his books he argues that in order to understand the Bible, it must be read through the eyes of the oppressed, since God is the God of the oppressed.R.S.
